Murray has been involved with the education of young illustrators for over thirty-five years. In that span of time he has had as students some of the most talented illustrators in the field today. "Future Stars" is the latest in Murray's lecture series. This slide presentation is done with two projectors, side by side, and shows the student work of illustrators such as Joe Ciardello, Peter DeSeve, and Caldecott medal winner, Richard Egelski. On the opposite screen, images of their mature work are shown simultaneously. Both the similarities and the contrasts of the work are incredibly revealing. In some, the transition from student to professional is predictable and seamless while in others there seems to be no relationship between their student and their professional work. This presentation is inspiring to students and enlightening to teachers. Examples of over thirty-five artists are included. All presentations are given with two projectors running simultaneously, and go for approximately ninety minutes, including a question and answer period with the audience.
